In Cisco Systems, launching a complex product consisting of multiple configurable items requires a high level of coordination among various teams involved in the process. Business Unit managers who are ultimately responsible for the launch of the product need to have an end-to-end visibility of the entire process. This way they can foresee impending problems and can take corrective measures. Personnel from the various Ops teams who are tasked with actually creating the items, modeling them, validating them, pricing them and turning orderability on for them need to have a means to track the items awaiting  action from their side.

The NPI Workspace Dashboard give users the means to track the progress of an item through the various stages of its life cycle – from the time it is created to the time its orderability is turned on. The NPI Workspace enhances the user experience and reduces the SKU Turn-On time.

New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) has identified a need to modernize computer and reengineer its business processes using SOA principals. The Unemployment Insurance legacy system for both tax and benefit claim operations were originally developed nearly 40 years ago and requires a tremendous amount of effort to maintain or change. The older file structures present difficulties in retrieving information in support of operating decisions, in implementing necessary changes due to legislation, and when exchanging data with external partners. New York State has made major initiatives which include Unemployment Insurance System Improvement, entailing modernization, extension, and consumer support for a completely redesigned Unemployment Insurance administration system, Work Zone on-line, self-service tools to help New Yorkers to explore careers, find jobs, and build a work portfolio and resume lasting a lifetime. Labor department is re-designing Benefits, Employer Registration, Audit and Investigation, Case management system, Interested party management, Benefit adjudication, Benefits certifications, eFile Core and address change components in the existing system New York state has adopted SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) and Rich Internet Applications (RIA) as standard design patterns to improve unemployment insurance system.
